Intermountain Horse Association Poker Ride September 11, 2010

My son and I rode today to support the special needs programs at our local recreation centers.  IMHA held the Poker Ride at Alderfer Three Sisters Park.  My son is seven, so I ponied him on his horse Summer, while I rode Trouble.  We got our card to carry at registration and rode off at our own pace to the five stations.  Lots of familiar faces and local animal people greeted us at each station with a new deck to pick from.  There was also the option of a longer ride.  Not knowing Poker, we didn't realize what we had, but my son had 3 Kings, a Jack and a Seven.  I had three sixes and two fives, which turned out to be the winning hand.  My sons was the second winning hand!  Leave it to the people who don't know what they are doing to win!  We came home with $500 in cash.  Of course we had to go to the Lego store that afternoon...  They served a great lunch after the ride and we had a wonderful time visiting.  Put this one on your calendar for next year.  It was a blast and a great cause too!
