Trail Ride at Chief Hosa, Denver Mountain Parks

Two Riders and Four Horses today.  We explored the area on the north side of I-70 near Chief Hosa.  We took a right at the T and parked about a mile down on the ledt in some pull in spaces that were big enough for our trucks and trailers.  The first part of the ride took us around a hill in a loop.  Denver Mountain Parks employees appeared to be having a bonding day on the ropes course that follows this road width path.  This was only about a half hour ride, so we decided to go down to the Chavez Trail.  We went about 45 minutes to a stream and wooden bridge that was about 2 horse lengths long and then came back.  The Chavez Trail was pretty technical because of steep areas, a rock wall, boulders, roots, small streams, branches, trees, loose ground, etc.  Quite interesting to ride and pony a horse on.  We think this trail may hook up with the Beaver Brook trail that heads over toward the Lookout Mountain Nature Center.  We came out with just a few scratches and a bruised knee (mine).  Nice, cool and shady in the trees though!
